(Dog Licenses may be purchased from December 1st to February 28th at the Township Office)
It is unlawful for any person to own, possess or harbor a dog over one year of age in the Township or County without having first obtained a license. An applicant must also have a valid certificate showing an immunization against rabies has been obtained. Licenses must be purchased and/or renewed on or before February 28th of each year. Cost of a license is $12.00 for neutered/spayed dogs and $25.00 for non-neutered/spayed dogs. If you are a senior citizen (60 years old or more) and the dog is neutered, the cost is $5.00. Licenses are also available by mail.
Loose or Stray Dogs
Thomas Township has a leash law, which requires dog owners to keep their dog(s) on their property and not allow their dog(s) to run loose. The law further requires all dogs to be restrained by leash when on public property. A violation of this law could result in the issuance of an appearance ticket(s) to the owner of the dog.
